I’ve read the full Charlie Gibson interview and compared it to what was actually aired. The undeniable truth is that they took several substantive answers that she gave to his questions and edited out the meat of her comments, making it seem as though she replied to questions about foreign affairs by saying “You can see Alaska from Russia!” without providing a serious answer. Other media outlets took fake quotes that were published on a comedy website and attributed them to Palin, as though she actually said them. They never corrected this.
You can call her stupid all you want, but the truth is that the media painted the picture that they wanted you to see. If you didn’t do any more research into her comments or viewpoints then you would never know that you were being played. At the very least, the media treatment of Sarah Palin drove home the issue of media corruption.

Between her and Carrie Prejean they sure seem to enjoy blaming everyone else for their problems….I thought Republicans/conservatives were all about PERSONAL responsibility? And this whole notion that Couric’s interview was chock full of “gotcha” moments is beyond ridiculous. She asked her what newspapers she reads and what Supreme Court rulings she disagreed with. Considering she was trying to be a heartbeat away from the highest office in the land, those are softball questions.
